Chapter Two-The Council's Offer

Redbridge Hall is a large three story building made from red hued marble and your bloody and haggard appearance evoke many dark stares from the bureaucrats working there. Adora leaves you in a waiting room where you receive food, a clean change of clothes and three initiates of Pelor use their spells to cure your wounded. (everyone is healed to full HP)

After almost 2 hours of waiting, Adora returns and escorts the four of you to the council chamber.

The room is circular in shape and facing you are five, high backed wooden chairs. At the moment only two of these are occupied. On the leftmost chair sits a youngman (early thirties) with brown hair and deep blue eyes, he is dressed fashionably and a beautiful bastard sword lies on his lap.

The middle and most regal looking chair is occupied by a very short lady in her late fifties wearing a fine scarlet robe. She has the bearing of a person of no small importance. Lady Adora introduces the woman as First Council Woman Varina and the young man is Remus Redbridge's Fifth and youngest Councilor.

First Council Woman Varina to party:

“I have been told that you handled that little incident at the market with the tigers rather well, I may have a job for you if you’re interested.”

“Redbridge is being pestered by strange animal attacks. Normally docile and loyal animals have begun to attack their owners, and after each attack a message is found magically engraved on wood.”

“The message always says; Return the stolen Faith. I have sent adventurers to investigate this and they have confirmed that the witch, Umara, is behind the attacks. They have entered her domain in the Nighthowl Forest almost two weeks ago but have yet to return, I fear the worst for them.”

“I am prepared to reward each of you 3000gp, 1000 now and the rest when the job is completed. I don’t care how you deal with the witch as long as you put a stop to her attacks before the yearly Boat festival arrives”

Councilor Remus (Standing up to stiking a pose) to party:

"Should you decide to accept the council's offer, I, as Redbridge's defense councilor am assigning Liutenant Titansmark here (he points to Lady Adora) to accompany you on your quest. She will receive a share of the reward but I trust you will find her swordarm a welcome addition to your party."

DM to everyone: You may want to ask the Councilors a few questions before you decide on anything...

Adora to Lady Varina: It is my honor and my duty to help this town. Can you tell us more about the witch Umara?

Adora to Party: It will be a pleasure working with you?

Sand appeared from a dark corner, apparently he was counting how many armsmen was stationed in the building, those in clear sight and those who were hiding. He smiled to himself. A smile that noone could see because he wore a full face mask.

Spot check take 20= 24

Sand to Councilors: "I would take your offer and do this job but I can't speak for my companions, It would be wise to let them recuperate first. Is there a place here where we can buy supplies?"

Sand takes his share of the downpayment and placed it in his money pouch.

Lestrand to Adora Making a Flourish fit for a dandy in a Ball: If it would please your Ladyship,
To the First Council Woman: Your Excellency, it would greatly help us in resolving this issue if we knew more about this witch Umara. Is she a citizen? thus she has past records? Surely she is known her.

Athos Action: I'll accept the offer and take the gold coins.

Athos to Councilor Varina: What makes this animals to go wild? I witness one of the tiger seems to be in kind of frenzy state.

Athos to lestrand: What do you say Lestrand?

I take the 1000gp.

To everyone: I think it would be better if we leave tomorrow morning so we can use the rest of today to buy supplies. I also need time to prepare my spells.

To DM: My spells are bless and protection from evil

First Council Woman Varina to Party:

"It is wise that you took my offer, here is your downpayment as promised. (She signals to a servant who hands each of you a pouch with 1000gp)

"Umara is an urban legend here in Redbridge, our own version of the boogieman. If legends are to be believed, she is the last of an ancient sect that worshiped dragons as the true manifestation of nature. This sect died out more that 500 years ago when Pelor's followers came to this land and converted the local tribes. I believe that the stolen fate mentioned in the message pertains to the worshipers of her sect that were stolen by the priests of Pelor."

"Her home is said to be deep within the Nighthowl Forest, a haunted forest located a full days ride to the south. If your party manages to brave the dangers of the forest you will find a gigantic, millennia old oak tree at its very center. Again, legends tell that this oak tree is Umara's home."

"As for the animals, we believed that Umara placed a spell on them that caused their frenzy. It must be a spell of her own devising, as the spellcasters we hired have never encountered one such as it before."

"If you want to buy supplies. I'm sure your party won't be disappointed with the goods in our bazaar. You can find all the supplies you may need for your mission there. (I suggest you buy a cleric on a stick)."

Councilor Remus to Party:

"If you ask me, I think this Umara person is just an old hag who has spend too much time in those woods that shes gone batty. She probably knows a handful of spells, a piece of cake for warriors such as yourselves (He tries to stifle a yawn)."

"Anyway, if you need a place to stay, you can use the spare rooms we have at the garrison. We seem to be having a shortage of brave guards these days (He says this with a smirk)."

DM to Party: If you like, you can ask the locals of Redbridge (a gather info check) about Umara before heading out to the Nighthowl forest. Also, please post whatever new items you buy ok...

Aizhel to Everyone: If you want we can have a party funds to buy a wand of cure light wounds. 150 GP EACH

Athos to Councilor Remus: Magic kind sir is something we should give respect. We still don't know what she can do or what she is capable of. We must take great caution on this mission. For we only have less information on this witch.

(While absent mindedly toying with his hair) " I'm not saying that magic is weak, Master Athos, I've seen what a well placed fireball can do. It's just that the concept of a thousands of year old witch is hard to swallow.... Even in this time and age"

Sand tosses a lighter pouch containing 150 gp at Adora

Aizhel to fennix and Shadowhart: Guys yung share nyo pambili ng wand na cure light wounds... hehehe wala din kasi me enough na gp pang abono.

Adora to Sand and Athos: Thanks guys. ( Takes the gp and puts it in her pouch).

athos to Adora: we might as well buy some holy water for I fear that this hag knows much of necromancy. You have a fighting chance lady adora but I fear for others who can't fight just in case we stumble into some rotten corpse that knows how to walk.
